Field Engineer
A. Daily Job Duties
- Support project execution by obtaining, evaluating, coordinating, and distributing the information and authorizations needed to complete work on time, within budget, and to the specified quality.
- Assist with preparation of contract item lists and final project records.
- Draft subcontract change orders and client change order requests.
- Track, distribute, and follow up on project documents, shop drawings, and submittals to ensure timely approvals.
- Ensure all materials and equipment are released in time to meet construction schedules.
- Provide constructability reviews and recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
- Prepare estimates for subcontractor scope changes.
- Maintain compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) requirements.
- Report directly to the Project Engineer, while managing assigned responsibilities with independence.
- Supervise and coordinate 1–3 subcontractors with minimal oversight.
- Participate in project meetings, actively contributing technical knowledge and coordination support.
Physical Requirements: Travel to project sites across New England is required. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, navigate active construction areas, and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. Work may involve exposure to construction equipment, cranes, elevated structures, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and electrical hazards.

B. Education
- Four-year degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management recommended.
C. Minimum Related Prior Experience
- Four years of formal engineering or architectural training or three years of building construction experience.
D. Preferred Special Skills
- Strong understanding of contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Procore Construction Management, and Microsoft Project scheduling software.
- Basic knowledge of accounting and cost control procedures.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to manage subcontractors effectively.
Candidates MUST be currently able to reliably commute to projects in the New England area. Non New-England candidates will not be considered without a cover letter stating their planned move date.
