Application Engineering Intern – Summer 2026

What you’ll do  

As an Application Engineering Intern for our brands Technomelt and Aquence, you will:  

Gain hands-on experience by working on independent projects in the Application Center that directly impact customer solutions. 

Conduct and optimize laboratory test methods to evaluate the physical and performance properties of adhesive products. 

Operate and maintain lab equipment such as viscometers, tensile testers, 3D printers, and small-scale packaging lines. 

Accurately collect, record, and analyze experimental data; assist in preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings. 

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development of innovative adhesive solutions for the packaging and labeling industry. 

Participate in professional development opportunities, including networking events and mentorship programs to build technical and soft skills. 

What makes you a good fit  

Undergraduate students who are completing their sophomore or junior year in an Engineering discipline like Chemical, Material Science or Mechanical Engineering. 

Basic Understanding of Adhesives: Familiarity with adhesive chemistry, principles of adhesion, and various adhesive types is a plus. 

Laboratory Skills: Proficient in standard lab techniques, including chemical handling and operation of benchtop equipment. 

Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct tests, analyze data, and troubleshoot adhesive performance issues. 

Safety Awareness: Committed to following laboratory safety protocols and working safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.

Additional information  

This internship is NOT eligible for a housing stipend or relocation support.  

Henkel’s Summer 2026 internship program starts on May 27th, 2026, and runs through mid-August.   

Recruitment for our 2026 internships starts in late August 2025 and runs through early March 2026 or until all our positions are filled.

The salary for this role is $22-$27/hour. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
