Gain valuable, hands-on experience supporting the design and development of furniture and metal products manufactured for California state agencies within the State Correctional Institutions. This role offers the opportunity to earn civil service and leave credits with the State of California before graduation.
Based in Folsom with scenic views of Folsom Lake, the position also includes occasional day trips to correctional facility factories, where you will observe and learn the production process alongside the Engineering Unit staff you’ll be assisting.
An applicant with a college degree obtained outside the United States must have education records evaluated by a credentials evaluation service. Student Assistant and Graduate Student Assistant are non-testing classifications; therefore, no examination/assessment is required. Anyone meeting the minimum qualifications listed on the classification specification may apply for this position. A non-testing classification is a temporary appointment (TAU) classification in which the appointment shall not exceed nine months in a 12-month period. Individuals in these classifications receive no permanent status in state service and may work no more than 1500 hours in a 12 consecutive month period.
