Private Equity Fall/Spring Intern

Ally Engage is a small, unorthodox growth-oriented Independent Sponsor firm. Unlike a traditional private equity firm, Ally Engage will acquire just one business every few years and the principals will operate and grow the company.

You will be working for an eccentric, unpretentious team of two. One who’s background is at top bulge bracket investment banks and private equity firms and the other whose background is at top management consulting firms and executive leadership at top big-tech firms, namely Salesforce.

You will be exposed to:

  1. Live M&A deals
  2. Interactions with brokers, accountants, and attorneys.
  3. Due diligence and negotiations of various sorts.
  4. Building a private equity firm from the ground up, where you’ll be privy to everything from internal strategy and operations to investing strategy and execution.
  5. Candid internal conversation and strategy conversations
  6. Frequent sessions where founders literally just share their screen and walk through thought process as well as creating work product (i.e., investment memo wireframing and construction, financial modeling, market research, etc.)

We are looking for interns to help manage our multi-stage HIGH volume deal funnel in the most efficient way possible.

Primary Work Streams Will Include:

  • Finding owner contact information for a number of private companies
  • Helping us source deals that match our investment criteria
  • Giving brutally honest feedback on email prompts and business negotiations
  • Evaluating investment opportunities, which, at times, will include financial modeling and preparing investor presentations
  • Market research
  • Building out internal processes and marketing materials

Work Will Not Include:

  • Busy work or anything that you or anyone else thinks is a waste of time

Requirements:

  • Someone who is HUNGRY and EAGER to learn
  • Common sense and ability to think independently
  • Comfort with chaos and lack of structure
  • Able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week and commit 2 full days per week (or at least close to it, not 4-5 half days)

Compensation

  • This is a remote, unpaid internship. If you are looking for a glamorous internship in a formal, prestigious work environment, this job is not for you. We will provide you with letters of recommendation as well as introductions to anyone at consulting firms, investment banks, and other private equity firms, etc., should you perform well. We will also help you with recruiting, interviewing, resume prep, etc.
  • If you work with us for at least 6-months, you'll have more than enough to talk about to impress in interviews.
