Do you get excited about events, marketing and local businesses? The Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce, the service provider for Special Service Area 27 (SSA 27), seeks a part-time Marketing & Events Intern who is interested in social media content creation, event planning and creative marketing. The intern will gain valuable experience in strategic marketing, social media management and event production, with the goal of supporting local businesses and improving the Lakeview and Roscoe Village neighborhoods. We offer a $1,500 stipend and will work with students on class credit.

Qualifications and Time Commitment

Strong attention to detail, interest in marketing and event planning (or a related field) and experience creating social media content and producing events. Intern must commit to 15-20 hours per week, October 6 - December 12. We are flexible on the days/times the intern will work in-office or remotely, and will work with your class schedule.

Responsibilities

Digital Marketing

  • Develop creative social media content and campaigns promoting local businesses and the Lakeview and Roscoe Village neighborhoods
  • Publish articles on our blog to be included in our bi-weekly eNewsletter
  • Stay up-to-date on events and promotions happening with businesses in our neighborhoods

Street Team & Print Marketing

  • Create strategic plan for placing event posters in local businesses and organization

Event Production

  • Assist with the setup and execution of various programs, including Brunch Fest (October 11), The Beer Stroll (October 18), Trick-or-Treat on Southport (October 27), The Tree Lighting Ceremony (November 23), and  The Southport Cocktail Crawl (December 5)
  • Other tasks as assigned, and there is an opportunity to develop additional projects based on the intern’s interests and learning goals.

The Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce is a community of entrepreneurs working together and supporting each other to create a stronger neighborhood and business environment, through advocacy, promotion, networking and education. Originally founded in 1951 as the Lincoln Belmont Ashland Business Association, our organization is a leader in supporting businesses with valuable resources, programming and services that advance the success of our business community. We leverage private funding, government resources and programs, and support from more than 400 members to help our local business community thrive. The Chamber serves as the sole service provider of Special Service Area (SSA) 27, a local taxing district in Lakeview that supports additional programs and services to supplement city services, including neighborhood promotion and public space enhancements. The Chamber also partners with the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Friends of Lakeview on community events and capital improvement projects that advance common goals. 

Service Area 

We serve the area bounded by the Chicago River on the west and Racine Ave. on the east. West of Ravenswood Ave., our service area extends from Diversey Pkwy. on the south to Addison St. on the north. East of Ravenswood Ave., our service area extends from Diversey Pkwy. on the south to Irving Park Rd. on the north.
