USDA - Biological Science Technician
The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's chief scientific in-house research agency. Their job is finding solutions to agricultural problems that affect Americans every day from field to table.
Major responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to: Conduct nucleic acid extraction and perform RT-qPCR. Assist with caged honey bee assays. Enter data using Excel. Prepare reagents. Routine maintenance of culture cells.
Desired skills: Excel data entry, basic data summary or statistical knowledge, aseptic technique, cell culture, nucleic acid extraction and PCR, reagent preparation and dilutions, molecular biology techniques, pipetting, basic microscopy.
Desired majors: Veterinary, biology, zoology, or premed/health-related majors
