USDA - Engineering Technician
The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's chief scientific in-house research agency. Their job is finding solutions to agricultural problems that affect Americans every day from field to table.
Major responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to: * Install and maintain robots for vision-guided robotics research, from set up, computer programming, testing/troubleshooting, and operation. * Install and maintain electrical/electronic and pneumatic control systems such as end effectors for robots and robot grippers, from set up, computer programming, testing/troubleshooting, and operation. * Set up and maintain conveyors and cameras in working order. * Support imaging research by installing, testing, operating, and maintaining new system prototypes and equipment. * Maintain engineering research space in a clean, orderly, and safe condition, including preparation before experiments and clean-up after experiments. * Support various research activities, such as literature search, data collection, processing, analysis, interpretation, and result reporting
Skills: * Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills * Strong programming skills in Python, Matlab, C#, C, or C++. * Prior experience in robotics and pneumatic control systems. * Knowledge of engineering science and technology * Solid background in mathematics * Electric soldering skills * Knowledge of Robot Operating System (ROS) * Knowledge of computer vision
