Flight Test and Integration Engineer Internship  

Department: Flight Test and Integration Engineering

U.S. Citizenship Required 

 

Autonodyne is a Boston-based software company working to provide additive autonomy to unmanned vehicles across land, sea and air domains. While much of our work support the defense sector, our technologies are also dual-use with applications in the commercial markets.  

The ideal candidate is a Mechanical, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering student with hands-on experience in labs, robotics, or hardware. They are mechanically capable, comfortable with 3D printing, and ideally have RC piloting experience. Motivated by uncrewed systems, they are eager to support testing, build custom rigs, and contribute to swarm and maritime-air autonomy projects. 

Responsibilities:  

Support integration and testing of software under development;  

Design and build customized test cases and rigs using 3D printers;  

Design and build field-transportable ground control stations;  

Contribute to integration and testing efforts in lab environments;  

Participate in projects to acquire uncrewed vehicles and develop test schemes, for launching vehicles;  

Build, maintain, and operate large fleets of uncrewed vehicles for swarm autonomy projects;  

Required Qualifications:  

BS ( or in-progress degree) in Mechanical, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering or related field;  

Engineering background with mechanical/electromechanical capabilities;  

Experience in an engineering lab using electrical equipment (e.g., power supplies, multimeters, battery chargers);  

Interest in UAS/UAV/Unmanned systems or robotics;  

Strong comfort level working with hardware, robotic systems, and systems engineering concepts;  

U.S. Citizenship Required; 

Preferred Qualifications:  

Prior experience as an RC fixed wing or RC helicopter pilot;  

Competency in 3D printing and designing custom hardware solutions;  

Familiarity with MAVLink protocol;  

Part 107 Certification;  

Experience (or strong interest) in avionics for unmanned systems; 

Active Secret Clearance; 

 

Travel:  

This position will likely involve little to no travel.  

Other Criteria:  

Strongly prefer domicile near the Boston/Cambridge metro area.  

U.S. Citizenship  

Security Clearance (active or previous) or the ability to be granted one desired.
