DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:  

 

The Office of Community Standards & Student Conduct (CSSC) strives to engage UW students in an equitable conduct process centered on honesty, integrity, and respect. Through the Student Conduct Code, we hold our students to the highest standards of ethics and integrity. The conduct process is intended to hold students accountable while developing them holistically. Students are encouraged to reflect on their actions to understand their impact on the community and to develop an understanding of their decisions to work toward success. 

 

Our core services: 

Investigate and adjudicate violations of the UW Student Conduct Code. 

Promote student accountability by cultivating the individual student's responsible, ethical behavior. 

Collaborate with student leaders, student organizations, student government, and local 

neighborhood associations to advance students’ understanding of their role as greater community members. Ensure that students are knowledgeable about what it means to be responsible citizens. 

When working with students of concern, provide leadership and consultation to other units, schools, colleges, and departments, and offer resources and support. 

Lead hazing prevention efforts for all students and employees across the system, investigate allegations of hazing behavior, and ensure compliance with state and federal law regarding hazing. 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

 

Preferred state date: October 2025 

Pay Rate: $25/hour  

Flexible scheduling during the academic year. Approximately 15 - 19.5 hours per week during the academic year. Flexibility regarding break times.  

Reports to: Alex Salemme, Hazing Prevention and Response Specialist  

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

Develop web and print content using student-facing language to communicate the dangers and prohibitions of hazing;  

Develop and manage a social media campaign aimed at the entire UW system to understand the dangers and prohibitions of hazing;  

Create and maintain creative social media campaigns, schedule content, and respond to feedback and questions;  

Assist with promotional campaigns for various hazing prevention programs and information, including Hazing Prevention Week, Advising and Orientation engagement, etc; 

Partner in managing the compliance of the Hazing Prevention Training through the BI Portal;  

Partner in the ongoing design of the Hazing Prevention Website using WordPress and other design and publishing tools;  

Assist with logistics and interviews of hazing investigations;   

Assist with data assessment and analysis of hazing prevention training, surveys, and program feedback; 

Serve as a student representative on the Hazing Prevention Advisory Committee, including a sub-committee;  

Attend weekly staff meetings as needed to present updates to the department team on projects and goals; 

Meet weekly with supervisor and other CSSC staff or campus partners;  

Attend professional development opportunities as available;  

Perform other duties and support projects as assigned.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

2 years of experience in student leadership roles in a university setting.  

3 - 4 years of undergraduate student experience in a higher education environment.  

Enrolled for the 2025 - 2026 academic year.  

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.  

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  

Strong organizational ability and time management skills, with excellent attention to detail.  

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Prior experience, knowledge, and relevant training in education, mental health, human development, student affairs, marketing, communications, and/or data analysis  

Prior leadership experience within a registered student organization, recreational club, fraternity, or sorority.  

Membership in a fraternity or sorority.
