NSMA is seeking Cost Analysis / Management Analysis student interns in its Cost, Data, & Schedule Analysis (Cost) Directorate for the Summer of 2026. 

 

Duties may include:

  • Gaining foundational knowledge of government cost estimating principles, including its role in program success, stakeholder value, and core concepts like Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), estimate types, and the need for credible data sources
  • Supporting ‘body of knowledge’ projects to include data research and analysis, building cost databases, and gaining insights into how this work informs the organization's workflow
  • Understanding Department of Defense analytic methods for assessing major weapon system program progress to help accurately forecast outcomes;
  • Gaining insight into vendor budget planning and the establishment and management of schedules
  • Researching technologies for electronic cross domain transfer of data and identifying where those technologies are being used along with the cost of implementation

 

About NSMA’s Intern Program:

The NSMA Intern Program offers eligible college students paid, temporary developmental opportunities before graduation. It provides learning experiences and exposure to the missions and work environments of the Department of Defense, Department of Navy, and NSMA, all while completing meaningful work. Eligibility requirements include:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Enrollment at least half-time at an accredited college/university, with a graduation date of Fall 2026 or later
  • Completed at least 30 credits (for undergraduates), OR be enrolled in graduate school (for graduates) at the time of application
  • A cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the level of security clearance required of this role
  • Passing a pre-employment drug test prior to onboarding
