Mobile Applications Intern

JOB TITLE: Mobile Applications Intern
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTS TO: Principal Engineer
EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-exempt
JOB STATUS: Part-time or Full-time

SUMMARY:
The Mobile Applications Intern will be responsible for partnering with other departments on the development and testing of new mobile applications, working closely with customer-facing teams to ensure that enhancements meet and exceed customer expectations for performance, reliability, and functionality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to implement new features and enhancements for mobile applications, considering user experience, performance, and compatibility across Android and iOS platforms.
• Ensure that mobile applications function seamlessly on various devices, screen sizes, and operating system versions to provide consistent user experience.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of mobile applications to ensure they are fast, responsive, and consume minimal resources, leading to improved user satisfaction.
• Conduct code reviews with fellow developers to maintain code quality, promote best practices, and identify areas for improvement or refactoring.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues, bugs, and glitches in the applications reported by users or detected during testing.
• Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure timely delivery of bug-free applications.
• Assist in deploying mobile applications to app stores and provide support during the release phase.
• Utilize analytics tools to gather data on user behavior and app performance, which can be used to make data-driven decisions for future updates and optimizations.
• Maintain clear and concise documentation for the development process, making it easier for team members to understand and contribute to the projects.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Training and education in a Computer Science related field required.
• Previous experience developing Android apps in Kotlin or Java highly recommended.
• Knowledge of Android Studio is highly recommended.
• Previous experience developing iOS apps in Swift highly recommended.
• Knowledge of XCode is highly recommended.
•Previous experience developing cross-platform mobile applications with Flutter and Dart highly recommended.

• Previous experience with Amazon Web Services, Amazon API Gateway, and DynamoDB recommended.
• Communicates (written and verbal) effectively with others required.
• History of following deliverable schedules and meeting assigned deadlines with limited supervision required.

• Familiarity with version control systems, specifically Git is highly recommended.
• Experience releasing apps on Google Play recommended.
• Experience releasing apps on the App Store recommended
• Pursuing or having completed a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related preferred.
• Stable work history required.

• Continually required to stand, walk, sit, and utilize hand and finger dexterity.
• Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
• Frequently required to talk or hear
• Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
• Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items less than 25 pounds
• This position may be remote, hybrid, or in-office
