Radiation Therapist (Job #R-0046376)
JOB SUMMARY
The Radiation Therapist is an essential member of the Radiation Oncology treatment team who is responsible for implementing the physician’s prescription for treatment. The individual assists patients and families by being sensitive to the need for emotional support, as well as therapeutic treatment. The Radiation Therapist collaborates with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality care for Radiation Oncology patients.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: A graduate of an approved twenty-four month curriculum based program in radiation therapy or an accredited bachelor level program in radiation therapy.
Preferred/Optional: None
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: Two years previous work experience as a radiation therapist.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required:
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) as a radiation therapist or certification obtained within six months of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred/Optional: American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) membership.
