
Summer Research Fellowship
The Summer Research Fellowship is an 11-week, paid full-time experience designed for undergraduate students interested in healthcare research. Fellows will gain hands-on experience in study design, data collection, statistical analysis, and dissemination, working closely with a faculty principal investigator (MD, DO, PA, NP, DNP, or PhD), senior research scientists, research navigators, biostatisticians, and other medical learners.
Program Highlights
- Duration: May 26 – August 7, 2026
- Location: In-person at Gundersen Health System’s La Crosse Campus
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (40 hours per week, no nights/weekends)
- Role: Clinical data retrieval from electronic medical records (not lab-based)
- Additional Opportunities: Shadowing, participation in casting, imaging exercises, and labor/delivery simulations, research-focused lecture series, journal club
- Culmination: 15-minute oral presentation in August
Eligibility
- Completed junior year of college by Spring 2026
- Minimum GPA of 3.2
- Interest in an advanced degree or career in a medical field
