The team is responsible for performing fundamental credit analysis via in-depth company and industry analysis, culminating in actionable ideas across RGA’s investment portfolio. The credit research team evaluates and monitors existing portfolio holdings as well as works to identify new investment opportunities with attractive risk/return characteristics.
The position will provide the candidate with exposure to the various roles and responsibilities that exist within the investments department of an insurance company while providing RGA Investments the opportunity to identify early candidates that will fit the needs of the growing RGA Investments department. The intern will learn the various methods and thought processes involved in analyzing individual companies, industries, and making relative value comparisons.
The intern will also learn how a fixed income credit research analyst considers these factors within the framework of a broader insurance organization, achieving income goals within the constraints of ALM (asset liability management) objectives. Work as a member of the credit analyst team which is responsible for evaluating existing RGA portfolio holdings as well as new investment opportunities. The intern will work alongside the senior credit analysts and learn the credit basics of various industries. The intern may be asked to help gather information on a specific industry and report to the rest of the team. The intern will also learn the basics of building financial statement models that are used when doing credit research as well as work on other ad hoc credit reporting projects. The intern may work on other cross-functional projects as time permits.
Requirements:
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student at the Junior, Senior or Graduate level actively pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related degree program at an accredited US University.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word
- Technology savvy, programming and process improvement/automation skills
- Creative thinker and self-motivated
