Communications Internship

Position Summary

CMMB is an international, faith-based NGO providing long-term, co-operative, medical and development aid to communities affected by poverty and unequal access to healthcare.

For over a century, we have worked to strengthen and support communities through healthcare programs and initiatives, the distribution of medicines and medical supplies, and the placement of volunteers. As part of our global strategic platform, we focus on women's and children's health. With partners, we are delivering sustainable health services in targeted communities within Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

The Strategy and Communication department is responsible for developing the strategic outcomes for, implementing, and evaluating the success of CMMB’s marketing efforts, internal and external communications, and branding exercises across varied markets and geographic locations. The volunteer will work directly with the Strategy, Marketing and Communications Team. The Strategy Team is responsible for developing the strategic outcomes for, implementing, and evaluating the success of CMMB’s marketing efforts, internal and external communications, and branding exercises across varied markets and geographic locations. This team ensures that CMMB is recognized nationally, internationally and internally, in order to generate and optimize revenue and promote programs that support CMMB’s global strategy.  

 

General Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Support new international office websites by updating content and ensuring accuracy
  • Organize and manage photo libraries and communications assets for easy access
  • Assist with social media activities, including content preparation and posting support
  • Writing and researching articles, stories, updates, and profiles for communications, and marketing
  • Tailoring materials for digital and print formats
  • Proofreading, editing and fact-checking marketing materials
  • Other duties as requested by supervisor and/or CMMB staff

Required Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or current university student
  • Experience in or desire to learn communications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service expertise
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail (especially for managing photos and digital assets).
  • Basic knowledge of website content management systems (CMS) and an interest in learning website updates.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and content best practices.
  • Good written communication skills for drafting and editing content.
  • Creativity and an eye for visual content (photo selection, basic editing a plus).
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience working in an office environment preferred
  • Familiarity and interest in global health issues, especially maternal and child health preferred
  • Commitment to CMMB’s mission, vision and values
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally while navigating cultural and language barriers
  • Ability to be flexible and prioritize projects and tasks effectively
  • Self-starter; independent, takes initiative
  • Problem solver, able to identify needs, and develop solutions
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Term:   3 Months
