Job Title: College Student Intern 

Organization: Boston Lesbigay Urban Foundation (BLU Foundation) 

Location: Hybrid (Remote and In-Person) 

Duration: Part-Time, Flexible Schedule

Boston Lesbigay Urban (BLU) Foundation is dedicated to providing services and support to LGBTQ+ individuals, seniors, and families. Our mission is to foster inclusivity, promote equity, and empower communities by offering essential resources and programs. The intern will gain a comprehensive understanding of our mission, vision, the impact of our work, the demographics we serve, and the services we provide. The goal is to identify opportunities to amplify our current programs and outreach efforts.

Position Overview: 

BLU Foundation is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic college student intern who will support various functions across the organization. This internship will provide hands-on experience in data collection, social media management, content creation, administrative tasks, grant writing, and event coordination. The intern will play a crucial role in helping BLU Foundation increase its visibility and strengthen its programs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Data Collection and Analysis:

   - Assist in collecting and analyzing data related to our programs, services, and community impact. 

   - Maintain accurate records of program attendance, participant demographics, and feedback. 

   - Support the development of reports and presentations to showcase the foundation's impact. 

 

2. Social Media Management and Content Creation:

   - Assist with managing social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and developing content calendars. 

   - Create engaging and relevant content (posts, graphics, videos) that highlights our programs, events, and impact. 

   - Monitor social media trends and analytics to improve engagement and reach. 

 

3. Administrative Support:

   - Provide general administrative support, including scheduling meetings, managing email correspondence, and organizing documents. 

   - Assist with database management and record-keeping. 

   - Help coordinate logistics for events, meetings, and community activities. 

 

4. Grant Writing Support:

   - Assist in researching funding opportunities that align with the BLU Foundation's mission. 

   - Help draft grant proposals and support documentation required for funding applications. 

 

5. Social Engagement Coordination:

   - Support planning and execution of social events, community outreach, and engagement initiatives. 

   - Assist in organizing volunteer efforts and coordinating with community partners. 

 

6. Other Duties as Assigned: 

   - Take on additional tasks to support the organization's needs and gain a comprehensive experience in nonprofit management.

- Gain practical experience in nonprofit operations, program development, and community outreach. 

- Learn about the BLU Foundation's mission, vision, impact, and the diverse demographics served. 

- Develop skills in social media management, content creation, grant writing, and event planning. 

- Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals in the nonprofit sector. 

 

Qualifications:

- Current college student pursuing a degree in a related field (e.g., Communications, Marketing, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or similar). 

- Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

- Experience with social media platforms and content creation.
