Legal Internship

This is a full-time legal internship in a dynamic company for located in Cedar Rapids, IA. The ideal candidate possesses a growth mindset and seeks to be part of a team poised for success in the private equity sector. The attorney will handle day-to-day tasks, including drafting and reviewing commercial leases, assisting with the legal aspects of due diligence, advising department heads on various legal matters, forming corporations, drafting operating agreements, reviewing loan documents, assisting with 1031 exchange transactions, preparing tenancy-in-common agreements, managing commercial real estate transactions, advising on tenant issues, and supporting real estate development. The candidate will work closely with team members and departments to ensure all transactions are legally sound and align with the company's strategic objectives. Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in real estate and/or corporate law intern, preferably in a private equity, law firm, investment firm, or commercial real estate setting.
  • Knowledge of real estate transactional processes, including title insurance, escrow procedures, and commercial leasing.
  • Familiarity with corporate formation, entity governance, securities filings, and compliance under relevant statutes (e.g., UCC, SOX where applicable).
  • Exposure to drafting and reviewing NNN commercial leases
  • Exposure to collections, drafting demand letters, and real estate disputes
  • Skilled in title review, real estate acquisitions due diligence, and closings
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Ecosystem
  • Superior attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in all legal matters
