2025-2026 Social Media Marketing Intern

Our environmental education nonprofit is growing rapidly, and we're looking to bring on a social media marketing intern for the fall and spring of the 2025-2026 school year. We're looking for a student that is enrolled full-time in a major university and studying marketing, communications, or digital media. We're looking for someone that is hoping to expand their skill set as a social media strategist, and who is eager to learn how to implement best practices for social media marketing. We'll be offering education around how to use a number of different tools: SocialBee, Facebook/Instagram Ads, Google Analytics, social media analytics platforms, and more. We're offering a flexible schedule, and the workload would be between 10-15 hours per week.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies across multiple platforms
  • Create and organize cross-platform content calendars and posting schedules
  • Develop new social media campaigns from the ground up, with a focus on our nonprofit's values and the values of our partner nonprofits and brands
  • Monitor social channels for trending news, ideas and memes, then capitalize on those trends through our social media accounts
  • Engage with followers and manage community interactions across all social platforms
  • Assist with capturing and analyzing social media metrics and performance data
  • Create weekly and monthly social media calendars to promote company brand on various platforms
  • Launch and manage paid social media campaigns (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Conduct competitor analysis and social media research
  • Collaborate with the design team on social media content needs and specifications
  • Write compelling social media copy that aligns with brand voice and drives engagement

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program required
  • Strong familiarity with social media strategies and platforms
  • Ability to multi-task and take initiative
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Hardworking and dedicated outlook
  • Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly
  • Bachelor's degree in digital communications, marketing, social media, or related field such as advertising or journalism
  • Impeccable written communication skills with strong copywriting abilities
  • Extensive experience with the major social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Pinterest, and LinkedIn
  • Knowledge of social media analytics software including Facebook Insights, Instagram Analytics, Twitter Analytics, and Google Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance
  • Understanding of social media advertising and paid campaign management
  • Experience with social media scheduling tools (SocialBee, Buffer, etc.) a plus
  • Knowledge of current social media trends and best practices
