Job Summary
NiSource is currently seeking a Cybersecurity intern in Columbus, OH. Successful applicants will become integral members of the department while learning within a team environment, completing meaningful tasks and collaborating with team members and leaders on important projects. These positions will be a great opportunity for the candidate desiring to launch their career in the Cybersecurity field. Successful applicants will build professional relationships with NiSource personnel while participating in rewarding professional development exercises and fun, team-building activities. Interns will obtain a broad overview of NiSource's operations and current events in the utilities industry.


This position follows a hybrid schedule, requiring on-site presence three days per week and remote work two days per week.

 

Essential Functions

  • The Identity & Access Management team is part of the Cybersecurity organization focusing on managing and securing of identities and the accesses associated with the identity.
    • Platform Support & Configuration
      • Assist in configuring and testing features in the Identity & Access Management platform.
      • Help troubleshoot and document integration issues with target systems that are on-prem or in the cloud.
    • Automation & Scripting
      • Develop or modify Beanshell or PowerShell scripts for provisioning, reporting, or data transformation tasks.
      • Support automation of access request workflows, certification campaigns, or account reconciliation.
    • Data Analysis & Reporting
      • Query and analyze identity data to identify orphaned accounts and access anomalies.
    • Security & Compliance
      • Assist in implementing role-based access controls (RBAC)
      • Participate in access reviews and help validate entitlement mappings.

 

Required Qualifications For Position

  • Acquiring a degree in data science, computer science, computer engineering, statistics, mathematics
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Have completed at least one year of undergraduate study
  • Keen attention to detail and a quality focused mindset
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-discipline for planning and organizing tasks
  • Passionate about data and security
  • History of being able to learn new technology quickly
  • Solid skills in utilizing computers, operating systems, mobile devices and software (MS Office Suite, MS Project, and other IT applications).
  • Understanding of Java, XML, Beanshell, and SQL
  • Excellent analytical abilities, including process analysis and development, problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship

Salary Range*:

$19.80 - $33.00

 

*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
