About the Role

The Product Line Manager (PLM) is a sales and product management role with the responsibility for driving the sales performance and overall success of the company’s product portfolio. The PLM will support Savant Labs by applying a customer-centric, business-focused mindset to identify and develop opportunities to their full market potential, while serving as a leader with product sales efforts. The PLM is responsible for defining and optimizing the ideal mix of products, pricing strategies, distribution channels, and promotional initiatives to meet business objectives.

The PLM will engage, develop, enable, and enhance the company’s offerings. The PLM will become the subject matter expert, including technical and market trends and how they affect the product and service roadmap, competitive analysis, developing sales strategies, performing product demonstrations, gathering VOC, and assisting with new product launches. This role requires a willingness to meet and inspire customers while working independently and within a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Capture customer needs through market research and customer engagement and visits.
  2. Analyze and interpret customer and market challenges to define clear market requirements that guide product development and strategy.
  3. Gain a deep understanding of the customers’ operations and how the company’s products align with their business objectives.
  4. Create and maintain detailed product requirement documents, business cases, and go-to-market launch plans to support product lifecycle success.
  5. Identify and cultivate strategic business development opportunities that complement and complete the product offering.
  6. Conduct monthly revenue reviews to assess product line performance and inform strategic decisions.
  7. Lead the development of consumer-aligned products that meet both market demands and company financial goals.
  8. Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities and drive product innovation.
  9. Design and execute channel and consumer communication strategies to support successful product launches.
  10. Be knowledgeable about technical benefits of product offerings and maintain a thorough market understanding, including industry trends, industry business processes, and key competitor capabilities, practices, and business direction to support development of customer use cases.
  11. Partner with marketing to support the development of marketing communications materials for all sales channels and customers, related to product value proposition messaging, new product launches, targeted promotions, and product news.
  12. Engage at all levels within internal teams and direct customers while driving new sales and growing market share.
  13. Provide input and content support for websites, newsletters, and social media initiatives.
  14. Perform cross-functional ad hoc analysis and lead special projects as requested.
  15. Promote product lines by participating in trade associations, industry conferences, and tradeshows.
  16. Track and analyze key business metrics including pricing strategies, sales history, product mix, and competitive landscape to support informed decision-making.
  17. Works closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing to conduct planning and market analysis.
  18. Collaborates and develops strategic objectives or goals to achieve success.
  19. Business and financial management of profit and loss responsibility of product line.
  20. Ensures consistency of product messaging across all channels.
  21. Maintains compliance and documentation with external regulations, change logs, registrations, specifications and change logs.
  22. Performance monitoring and continuous improvement with KPIs, post-launch reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives across product operations.
  23. Presents to internal/external audiences as needed or required.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • BS/BA in Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Business Management or related field experience required.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a related role required. Proven ability to manage multiple product lines preferred.
  • Exhibits sound planning and time management skills to ensure goals and deadlines are met.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage outcomes effectively in a fast-paced and growing environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to handle or escalate unforeseen problems and execute sound decision-making.
  • Possesses exceptional organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task proficiently.
  • Exhibits a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to effectively and efficiently use all Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work through last-minute changes as necessary.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with all levels of the company to finish projects and/or achieve specific goals.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Position may require up to 50% travel.
