One of four nationally recognized Capital Fellows Programs, The Senate Fellowship Program is one of the most distinguished experiential learning programs in the nation. Established in 1973, the Senate Fellowship Program offers Fellows the opportunity to work full-time as policy staff in a California State Senator’s Capitol office or in a Senate policy committee. The program offers aspiring public servants of diverse backgrounds and experiences the unique opportunity to directly participate in the legislative process and shape public policy.  

Applications must be submitted by the deadline of Monday, December 8, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST). 

Applicants must submit the following by the application deadline:

  • Completed online application at
  • Personal statement
  • Policy statement
  • Resume
  • College transcript(s)
  • A list of three individuals who will write letters of recommendation

Recommenders must submit letters of recommendation by the deadline of Monday, December 15th, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).
