Annual Salary Range: $54,204 - $81,096

 

Are you looking for an opportunity to work with Tennessee State Parks? Our Tennessee State Parks are among the most beautiful parks in the United States. We have outstanding opportunities to work in a beautiful work environment. This position is at Bledsoe Creek State Park in Gallatin, TN. The park consists of 169 acres on the embayment of Old Hickory Lake and has hiking trails, a campground with a separate group camp, bathhouses, a visitor center, shelters, and two boat ramps. Bledsoe Creek State Park is most noted for its popularity in camping and water recreation. Bledsoe Creek also has a historical component with many state and county entities of historical significance in the local area. 

This position has a variety of responsibilities including the requirement of a candidate to have a flexible work schedule and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. The preferred candidate will be comfortable working with diverse guests of the park, interacting with a variety of wildlife, and enjoy interpretive programing along with natural resource management. To be considered for this position you must have a bachelor's degree, with preferred degrees in Parks and Recreation Management, Biology, Wildlife and Fisheries, or another relevant field. Candidates are required to either be a state-commissioned officer recognized by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy or willing to complete the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training and become commissioned prior to the end of the probationary period. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications (MQs) for this position. For MQs and how to apply, please visit: http://www.tn.gov/careers.

 Highlighted Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned operations responsibilities and assist with management of all operations and visitor services.
  • Provide for the safety and security of park resources and guests.
  • Assist with community outreach programs and partner with local businesses, schools, and area officials to promote the park and impact economic development. 
  • Serve as the Natural Resource/Trail Maintenance Lead and associated tasks.
  • Participate in emergency search and rescue operations and conduct routine patrols of the campground and park trail system.
  • Assist with the implementation of monthly programming, the Go Green Initiative, Park Inventory, and Safety and Security detail.
