Annual Salary Range: $48,204 - $60,336

 

Looking for an opportunity to work with a collaborative team in Tennessee State government? Interested in protecting our environment, public health, and water quality? The Division of Water Resources has a position in our Cookeville, TN Environmental Field Office (EFO) working in a diverse team environment with other EFO staff, as well as directly with our regulated community. The position assists our external customers with understanding the rules that govern the Safe Drinking Water Act, compliance of regulations and provides answers for regulatory questions. TDEC employees are currently working in alternative workspaces from their home with some scheduled time in their assigned office.

This position requires excellent communication skills working with broad/diverse customer base. The position requires fieldwork in rural areas and industrial sites, in all weather conditions, and frequent day travel. Preference may be given to candidates with an Environmental Science degree and/or professional environmental experience. Preferred bachelor’s degrees include engineering, environmental science, biology, physical sciences, or other related environmental science fields. Highlighted Responsibilities:

  • Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of state and federal rules governing the Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act.
  • Complete environmental site assessments and inspections of NPDES Permits and Permitted Facilities.
  • Accurately complete all construction and installation inspection reports for Drinking Water Wells.
  • Review construction permit applications for completeness and issue coverage under applicable permits. Maintain permit files, records, and reports.
  • Assist additional Division wide programs as requested by management to support the mission of the agency and division.
