Environmental Intern
OVERVIEW
TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Environmental (Planning, Permitting, and Licensing) Interns for our Summer 2026 intern program out of the Scott Depot, WV Office. This is a paid full-time position. This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Our Environmental (PPL) Interns:
Assist on current environmental permitting and compliance projects
Assist with wetland delineations, wildlife and plant surveys, and other biological fieldwork
Document research and field investigations, including surveying and data recovery
Perform water quality sampling, vegetation mapping, brownfield fieldwork
Support for field leads, field deployments, field inspections, etc.
Support additional tasks as necessary
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 21 years old
Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Conservation, Fisheries, Wildlife, Botany, Wetlands Science or related field
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Comfort in the outdoors and ability to maintain a positive attitude during year-round field work in a variety of weather conditions
Excellent data collection, technical writing and communication skills
Collaborative, organized, self-motivated, detail orientated person
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Google Earth
Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow
Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will also be able to perform well with minimal supervision and have familiarity with GPS and GIS technologies
The candidate should have a strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCad, MathCad, ESRI, HydroCad, WaterCad, ARCView GIS, etc.) is preferred but not required

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $18 to $26/hr. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
