Student Assistant – Employment Coordinator Support

Department: Human Resources

Reports to: HR Employment Manager

Position Summary:

The Student Assistant will support the Human Resources Employment team in the coordination of staff employment processes. This position will assist with recruitment activities, onboarding, and record management while providing excellent customer service. The role offers valuable hands-on experience in employment and talent acquisition functions within a professional HR setting.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with job postings in the university’s applicant tracking system, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Coordinate recruiting activities and communication with candidates and hiring managers or hiring committee chairs.
  • Support the onboarding process by ensuring required documentation is completed on time.
  • Maintain and update employment records in compliance with university and legal standards.
  • Respond to inquiries from applicants and hiring committees regarding employment policies and procedures.
  • Assist with employment verifications, background check processes, and compliance tracking.
  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, filing, scanning, and running reports.
  • Contribute to process improvement projects related to recruitment, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment as a student at the university; graduate student preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excell, Outlook); experience with HR or applicant tracking systems is a plus
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Interest in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

Work Schedule:

Flexible; up to 29 hours per week based on student’s academic schedule and department needs.
