The Samaritan's Purse Apprenticeship Program is a strategic program designed to prepare and train the next generation of the Samaritan's Purse future workforce. Samaritan's Purse is seeking an Medical Informatics Domestic Apprentice to support our International Health Unit team in North Wilkesboro, NC.
Samaritans Purse exists to provide spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world in Jesus name. The apprentice selected would receive the requisite training and experience needed to begin a career with Samaritans Purse. Apprentice positions will be 2 years in length and include salary and benefits. While the express purpose of an apprenticeship is to equip an individual for full-time work, a job is not guaranteed at the end of their 2 year contract. However, it is the expectation that the individual will successfully gain the needed competencies in order to advance.
A day in the life of an Apprentice:
At Samaritans Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and prayer. We hear from members of our staff, both from IHQ and our global offices, as well special guest speakers who encourage us in Gods word. We then join together in prayer for one another, as well as praying for staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. We get paid to start each day this way!
Job Duties:
- Assist with the coordination of DHIS2 platform for use in Projects Medical Programming.
- Collate data collection and reporting needs from country/field offices, Emergency Medical Response Team and Incident Management Team(IMT) working with the IT development team to ensure DHIS dashboards and reporting tools are reflecting current programmatic needs.
- Assist in the training of new users in DHIS2 and support deployment of DHIS to new sites.
- Conduct regular data quality checks data elements, and dashboard.
- Provide first-line technical and troubleshooting support for users and coordinate second line technical support as relevant, ensuing compliance with Samaritans Purse and best in practice sector standards for data quality and use.
- Ensure data are appropriately represented and are available in visual form to decision makers.
- Collate, edit and produce, and help design and implement dissemination strategies for various types of information (newsletters, training brochure, technical updates, reports, and publications) to internal and external audiences.
- Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
- Follows policies and procedures of Samaritans Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual.
- Attends daily morning devotions and participates in prayer support for the ministry, donors and volunteers.
- Maintains a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
- Other duties may be assigned that are not specifically identified within the content of the job description.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree from four-year college or university
- Qualification or equivalent experience in public health or health information systems
- Experience in use and maintenance of DHIS2
- Excellent computer literacy, including advanced Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills
- Experience developing and conducting training programs for field staff including curriculum design, presentation and teaching skills, and training-of-trainers methods
- Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpreting results, and experience using statistical software
- Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work with a diverse team in a pressured environment
- Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred
