Recreation Assistant
Job Description Summary
Under direction of the PACE Center Recreation Therapist, oversees and implements a therapeutic activity program that is appropriate to the range of interests, cognitive, physical and social needs of PACE participants in the PACE Center. Assists Recreation Therapist, in facilitating PACE Center-Based Participant Council Meetings to solicit advice and receive feedback. Contributes to the development of the therapeutic activities program in the PACE Center. Provides guidance and support to PCAs around assisting participants with activities.
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Demonstrates ability to conduct arts and crafts groups.
• Demonstrates ability to conduct exercise groups.
• Demonstrates ability to conduct cognitive activities such as current events and quiz games
• Demonstrates the ability to conduct music groups
• Makes contributions of activity ideas for incorporation in monthly activities calendars
• Begins activities on time and is prepared with necessary materials
Qualifications and Requirements
• High School diploma required.
• Nursing assistant certification a plus
• Activities Assistant Certification (AAC) at time of hire or commitment to complete within 6 months.
• Two years’ experience working with elders or other frail population.

Pay Range:
$22 up to $31 based on experience
