Secondary Education Teaching Assistant

Position Responsibilities:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary Education Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality instruction and fostering a positive learning environment for students in grades 6-12. The following specialties are available for students to apply to:

Responsibilities for supporting grades 6-12:

  • Assist classroom teachers in delivering lessons across various subjects (e.g., English, Math, Science, Social Studies)
  • Support individual students and small groups with coursework, assignments, and classroom activities
  • Provide additional support for students with learning differences, including implementing accommodations and modifications as directed
  • Monitor student behavior in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and during school events or field trips
  • Assist with grading, attendance, and maintaining accurate records as requested by the teacher
  • Help prepare materials and classroom resources, including setting up technology for instruction
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
  • Serve as a role model and mentor, offering emotional and academic support to students
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with school policies and procedures

On-site Supervision and Support

Our internships include 24/7 on-site staff to support students working and living abroad. All students will also report to a supervisor at their internship site. Supervisors provide and oversee daily tasks, introduce the intern to team members, and mentor the intern in organizational agility, skill acquisition, and career readiness. Interns complete a midpoint and final evaluation, and supervisors complete a final evaluation of their interns. All work responsibilities and projects are approved in advance. 

Academic Credit

Students on an internship have the opportunity to enroll in their home university for credit, or enroll in a course through API to transfer back to their university for credit. Email support-internships@apiexperience.com for more information and a syllabus.

Housing and excursions are included in your internship and will be selectable during the application process.
