Academic Personal Assistant
Job Title: Academic Personal Assistant- for, MPH Associate Professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy (HMP), School of Public Health, at University of Michigan
Seeking an advanced student or professional with expertise and experience in personal support, administrative duties, and research processes associated with Professor's research portfolio.
Job Summary:
Seeks a responsive and responsible individual or professional to assist in personal, executive and research administrative tasks. This person will conduct a variety of responsibilities in the realm of general organization, travel and media management, and research-related admin. This individual will work closely with Professor on many tasks related to University of Michigan and consulting duties, as well as personal endeavors (receipt management, website development, medical management).
Calendar and task triage & management tasks are significant. Tasks will vary greatly with varying cadences of urgency (i.e. grant deadlines, start of the semester). This role requires extreme flexibility and someone to expand and contract depending on the task. The Personal Assistant will meet every week to share information and update Professor on pending deliverables.
Communication will take place primarily through email, text messaging, Notion, and Google Drive document management. Evening and weekend work is permissible to fit the needs of the hire, but the role requires minimal level of responsiveness throughout the week during normal working hours and consistent communication about the progress of deliverables. The Personal Assistant may also work with Professor, as wanted, for public health mentoring.
Location: Remote Appointment
Period: September 1, 2025 -August 31, 2026
Estimated FTE: 25% (10 hours per week)
Compensation: $25/hour
Responsibilities :
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Support directly as the go-to person for certain academic needs, including daily administration, calendar management, travel scheduling, personal project coordination, medical coordination, etc.
Is a spokesperson as necessary (i.e. communication with students, colleagues and media)
Provide high-level administrative support, makes administrative decisions and pre-emptively arranges next steps
Manage a high-volume travel schedule, including flights, lodging, car rental, etc as well as related document management
Conserve time by reading, researching, and routing correspondence; drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information; and initiating telecommunications
Conduct preliminary research and literature searches to assist in healthcare and health policy--related publications, presentations, and media interviews (optional)
Manage website analytics and updates
