Graduate Assistant, CCPD

 

Position Type: Federal Work Study or Non-Work Study 


 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • The Center for Career & Professional Development (CCPD) Graduate Assistant participates as a full-fledged member of the CCPD team with direct student, employer, faculty and staff interaction.
  • This position will provide one-on-one career advising, oversee drop-in career advising hours, provide workshops and presentations, act as team leader for student staff and assist in employer recruitment activities.
  • Duration is August through May.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Passion for helping students/alumni succeed, with demonstrated willingness to learn more
  • about employment strategies and techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of the career development model.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to pay attention to detail while managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to convey respect, caring and professionalism to all Detroit Mercy students, alumni, staff
  • and employer partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptable with a team-oriented mentality.
  • Willingness to take initiative, participate in staff meetings, contribute ideas and insights, and
  • give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Experience with MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint, the Internet and current technology
  • and social media platforms.
  • Some work experience outside of higher education is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Education Requirements: BA/BS required & acceptance to a graduate program within the Psychology.
  • Counseling departments at University of Detroit Mercy.

Anticipated Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday; 4 hours per day.
