Office Assistant
Basic Function and Responsibility:
Assist with office needs for the Center for Native American Studies (CNAS) including answering phones, greeting visitors, filing documents, making copies, contributing to the CNAS online presence, helping visitors with the CNAS resource room, and other assigned tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the CNAS office team with day-to-day office operations
- Assist CNAS office team with communications (email, phone, posting posters, etc)
- Attend trainings as required
- Adhere to the policies and student employee expectations as required
- Complete other duties or tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Work-study required
- NMU student in good academic standing
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Free from any social probation imposed through the University’s judicial process at the time of application, and remain free of any probationary status
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with office support and assistance
- Demonstrated experience with working independently
- Demonstrated student organizational experience
- Familiarity with CNAS and academic programming
- Knowledge of Tribal nations in the Great Lakes region
- Knowledge of Native American studies or familiarity with Anishinaabe language
