Student Technician - Biology Lab Assistant - FWS

The lab assistant may assist the professors in the department by performing such tasks as:

1. Preparing lab stations for all general biology labs as well as other labs as needed, including microbiology, cell/molecular, and anatomy and physiology labs.

2. Performing routine maintenance on safety showers and eye wash stations throughout the department

3. Maintaining chemical inventory records for all labs in the department

4. Preparing chemicals for labs

5. Assisting in maintaining a clean work environment by washing glassware and using an autoclave as needed.

6. Organizing and maintaining labs and other workspaces.

7. Assisting laboratory professors with picking up laboratory supplies and filing documents.

8. Working in the Greenhouse and assisting with Union's Arboretum.

9. Cleaning in the mouse room.

10. Driving Union Vehicles to and from field trips, as well as helping clean them upon return to campus.

Preference will be given to applicants who are current Biology majors with experience in chemistry, with 8-12 hours of Biology courses, including BIO 112 and 211 as preparation for some tasks.
