Maintain lab organization, inventory, and equipment records
Wash glassware, manage waste streams, and operate the autoclave
Prepare common reagents, buffers, media, and agar plates
Assist with E. coli culture, sample labeling, and freezer box organization
Support basic experimental set ups such as gel electrophoresis and spectrophotometer reads
Enter data and keep accurate digital notebooks in Notability with daily uploads to Google Drive
Track samples, plasmids, and clones with embedded links to full-size unaltered data files and storage locations
Perform sequence browsing and basic bioinformatics tasks such as BLAST searches, multiple sequence alignments, and plasmid annotation
Use RNA folding tools as directed
Contribute to simple web or database tasks such as updating a lab website or maintaining a small inventory database
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with organization of the laboratories inventory and equipment records.
- Perform laboratory set-ups for various courses.
- Prepare reagents, clean glassware, culture bacteria, and operate autoclave.
- Assist laboratory instructor in the teaching of laboratories.
- Complete data entry and other special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled at West Virginia University.
- Communicate and work well with a variety of individuals.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
- Proficient in Windows-based applications and strong internet skills.
