The Ally Internship Program guides and mentors students with development opportunities and experiences that support your career interests while also driving the business forward. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with diverse teams and functions across the company. You will interact with Ally’s leadership and learn from their personal successes. You will gain the experience to know what it means to be an Ally!

The Details
Internship Program Timing: May 26 – August 7, 2026
40 hours each week with a mix of in-office and remote working days
Project-based work
Market competitive hourly compensation and a sign-on bonus, as well as financial housing assistance for those who qualify
Successful interns will have the opportunity to return to Ally in an Early Talent Program or full-time role, or to a second internship, depending upon graduation timing.
The Work Itself
Areas of Opportunity:
- Business Line Risk - this team establishes the risk management program for Auto Finance. The team works with business partners to optimize operations and Auto Finance risk/return profile.
- Commercial Credit Risk Analytics & Reporting - this team is responsible for building and maintaining data, reporting and analytical routines for Ally’s ~$23B Commercial Automotive loan portfolio. These routines are used to monitor portfolio performance, to support credit risk management strategies, to perform credit loss forecasting activities (used for corporate financial planning, reserving and stress testing), and to support day-to-day operations of the portfolio management, dealer credit administration, underwriting, and analytics teams.
- DL Forward Flow - This department develops and manages alternate lending strategies that include application pass-through programs and forward flow arrangements with automotive retailers. These strategies allow dealers to provide expanded access to credit for consumers, and diversify Ally’s originations strategy. These teams utilize data, strategy and relationship management to generate accretive revenue.
- Product & Strategy - this team is responsible for supporting product, underwriting, and contract processing teams as they make data driven decisions. The team is responsible for data identification, data extraction, data processing, analysis, and the packaging of results for distribution. Process Optimization and Automation - Partners with Auto leadership to drive value through innovative process improvement and automation strategies that creates revenue growth, reduces expenses, reduces risk and improves customer / employee experience.
- Sales Alliance - this team manages the relationship between Ally and the Automotive Manufacturers and Large Dealer Groups. The team is responsible for the overall Leasing strategy of Ally and supports the field sales organization by providing data analytics and business intelligence to achieve financial targets. In addition, they also identify and research industry and economic trends, and possible OEM partnerships to assess the impacts to the Ally organization.
- SmartAuction - is an industry-leading internet auction that offer access to virtual inventory of wholesale vehicles for eligible dealers of all brands. You can make or receive offers from your computer or mobile device on select vehicles for sale an deceive access to auction inventory and vehicle sales data nationwide.
The Skills You Bring
Required qualifications.
- Rising Junior or Senior (during the time of internship) in a full-time undergraduate program.
- Major/Course of Study: Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrates Analytical Thinking, Collaboration, Learning Agility.
- Available for the full duration of the internship program.
- Eligible to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship from the company now or in the future.
