Information Professional Officer
As a Navy Information Professional Officer (IPO), you will oversee the seamless operation of the Navy’s global network environment and play a key role in defending and advancing U.S. interests in cyberspace. IPOs are part of the Navy’s Information Dominance Corps, ensuring mission success through information superiority and secure communications.
Responsibilities
- Lead Naval network warfare missions, developing tactics and procedures for tactical, strategic, and business advantages both afloat and ashore
- Drive interoperability with joint, allied, and coalition partners
- Build professional excellence through education, training, certifications, and milestone qualifications
- Optimize organizational effectiveness with cutting-edge technologies, knowledge management, and innovation
- Develop and deploy information systems, command and control, and space systems
- Serve as a key part of the Information Dominance Corps’ mission to understand and counter adversary capabilities
- Oversee Information Systems Technicians (Enlisted Sailors specializing in IT operations)
Work Environment
- Information Professionals serve worldwide in challenging roles of increasing scope and responsibility, including:
- Serving as part of Battle Group staffs aboard ships at sea
- Working in C4I/Space/Surveillance during shore tours
- Serving on major Navy and joint staffs
- Commanding key communication and surveillance facilities around the globe
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a technical field (preferred fields: Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Operations, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or General Engineering)
- U.S. citizen
- Willingness to serve worldwide
- Eligible for Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance
