Technical Service Representative
JW Hicks, Inc. (JWHI) is an American manufacturing/design company located in Northern Indiana specializing in high technology ceramic products for the metals industry. Currently, we are looking to add a Technical Service Representative to our team. This person will serve as primary contact for customers regarding products and services supplied by JW Hicks. The ideal candidate for JW Hicks is someone with a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to troubleshoot technical problems and the ability to communicate with various customers in either technical details or layman's terms.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure proper use of all JWHI specialty refractories and mechanical systems on customer site
- Respond to product performance issues; troubleshoot problems in conjunction with JWHI Engineering and Application groups
- Maintain and develop customer relationship
- Encourage customer to follow proper standard operating procedures and safety features
Minimum Qualifications
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with ISO standards
- Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
- Ability and willingness to learn
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to relate to all levels of the customer organization
Desired Qualifications
- 4-year degree in Technical Systems Management, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent area of study
- 2 years Industry experience (shipyards, steel mills, or some other manufacturing plant/factory experience)
- Competence in interpreting mechanical drawings
- Steel flow control experience beneficial
- Ability to use computer software to analyze data and produce reports
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment
- Report writing skills
- Understanding of statistics and process control
- Familiarity with OSHA industrial safety standards
