Family Time Specialist

Job Title: Family Time Specialist (1099 Independent Contractor)
Job Type: Contract
Location: Multiple Locations Available
Compensation: $28.00

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a 1099 Independent Contractor position as a Family Time Specialist. This role involves providing supervised visitation services for families in transition, in alignment with DCYF (Department of Children, Youth, and Families) requirements. Services may be delivered at one of our centers or involve transporting children from their placement to an approved visitation site.

The Family Time Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring child safety and well-being, fostering positive parent-child interactions, and supporting family reunification efforts. This position requires strict adherence to confidentiality and all mandated policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise parent-child visits in a safe, nurturing environment
  • Transport children to and from visitation sites as needed
  • Engage with parents and siblings to support family bonding
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports
  • Collaborate with parent coaches, Guardian ad Litem, law enforcement, counselors, and other professionals
  • Uphold confidentiality and professional standards at all times

Minimum Qualifications:

Option 1:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 12 months documented experience working with children and families in one or more of the following settings (volunteer/internship experience accepted):
    • Licensed daycare or nanny services
    • School setting
    • Child placing agency, residential care, or foster care
    • Supervised visitation services
    • Community organizations (e.g., YMCA, scouting, sports programs)

Option 2:

  • Associate’s degree in Human Services or related field, or two years of completed coursework toward a Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 6 months documented experience in the settings listed above

Option 3:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of child safety and development
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Blood-borne pathogen training (minimum 2 hours within the past 5 years)
  • Two written references from previous employers/supervisors
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
  • Computer proficiency
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends
  • Physical ability to lift infants and small children
  • Willingness to complete 20 hours of unpaid training
  • COVID-19 vaccination or valid exemption/accommodation letter
