Job Summary:
The Office of Equal Opportunity and Access is seeking an Accessibility Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.

Oregon State University’s (OSU ) Office of Equal Opportunity and Access (EOA ) is ready for an Accessibility Manager to help us to the next level by leading, enhancing, and expanding digital and general accessibility expertise within the university.
We are seeking a manager with foresight for advancing these objectives through relationship building and a focus on continuous improvement of processes, procedures, communications, and training efforts.
The Accessibility Manager supports the equal opportunity and civil rights compliance obligations and commitments of the university by leading, enhancing, and expanding the digital and general accessibility expertise of the office with university programs on campus, online, and in the broader community. Key Responsibilities
50% Oversee, Coordinate, Consult, and Implement Accessibility Efforts
• Lead and manage efforts around accessibility policy, procedure, and remediation plans, with primary focus on digital accessibility. This includes assessing, recommending, and revising policy, procedure, and standards as necessary to ensure accessibility. Work closely with DAS and UIT and their Digital Experience unit around policy efforts as a subject-matter expert on current law and best practices.
• Stay current on state and federal laws and regulations as well as best practices relating to accessibility policies and procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of practices at other higher education institutions and related industries.
• Serve as first point of contact and serve as subject-matter expert while consulting with OSU departments, offices, colleges, programs, and personnel on their obligations to ensure digital accessibility and the necessary processes to achieve compliance.
30% Create Plans, Audit, and Respond to Complaints and Grievances
• Develop plans to comply and coordinate compliance with digital accessibility and general accessibility laws, policies, procedures, corrective action plans, and agreements. Provide regular written and oral updates to EOA leadership on OSU’s progress towards goals and objectives.
• Oversee corrective action and resolve complaints/grievances regarding violations of technical standards.
• Direct the completion of regular accessibility audits and provide productive and useful feedback. Assist with remediation plans where appropriate.
• Collaborate with UIT /Digital Experience, Procurement, and other relevant stakeholders to set up processes to review vendor and 3rd party VPATs/conformance reports. Conduct manual testing of technologies to identify accessibility barriers where applicable.
• Communicate with leadership and the university on plans and implementation strategies.
10% Outreach and Training
• Develop, facilitate, and provide oversight for digital accessibility training. Maintain knowledge of current emerging practices and assistive technologies, web, and application development trends.
• Individually and collaboratively, design and conduct educational training sessions on broader topics of equity, inclusion, and access in how they relate to equal opportunity obligations.
• Prepares communications to programs, employees, and supervisors regarding digital accessibility.
• Develop websites and other asynchronous digital accessibility training materials.
10% Service and Other Activities
• Serve on the UIT digital accessibility committee.
• Collaborate with other members of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access and university leadership to develop policy, operating guidelines, or practices to ensure compliance with equal opportunity obligations and consistency with aspirations for inclusion in all university programs, services, and activities.
• In collaboration with supervisor and colleagues, provide leadership and guidance to the university community regarding general accessibility and consultative questions received.
• Provide service to the university and surrounding community, including participation on relevant and related university committees and in campus/community activities.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned, including opportunities for growth and professional development in other areas of interest related to the work of the office.
What You Will Need
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience with assistive technologies, digital resources, and content accessibility
• Strong understanding of the functional accessibility of websites, web applications, and electronic documents
• Understanding of and ability to explain relevant laws, rules, regulations, and internal polices and procedures such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, or the OSU Digital Accessibility Policy
• Understanding of HTML , CSS , WAI -ARIA , and WCAG standards
• Understanding of tools and techniques to aid in accessibility evaluation
• Ability to clearly communicate complex concepts in various settings and formats
• Ability to develop and cultivate positive working relationships with institutional partners
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
The individual in this role will need to attend meetings and events occasionally outside of typical work hours, which may include evenings and weekends. Travel to Oregon State University sites beyond Corvallis may occasionally be required, with occasional overnight travel. Flex hours will be provided for identified and approved events. This position is intended to be at least 50% in-person (Corvallis campus) based on the needs of the office. Additional remote work may be considered for highly qualified US-based candidates willing to travel to Corvallis regularly.
