Police Recruit and Lateral Police Officer

The mission of the Garland Police Department is to enhance the quality of life for our community by reducing crime and the fear of Crime. 

The City of Garland is searching for Police Recruits and Lateral Police Officers who meet the following requirements: 

All applicants must have at least one of the following requirements:

 • Associate degree or completion of 60 semester hours of college credit from an accredited college or university, with a minimum 2.0 GPA; or

 • Discharge from the armed forces of the United States after at least two years of active duty service; OR 

• Minimum of two years of service as a commissioned, full-time, paid peace officer (reserve peace officer status shall not be considered); OR 

• At least 21 years of age and have at least two years of continuous work experience in any position that is City, State, or Federally funded

* Education, prior police experience, or prior military experience requirements must be met prior to the start date of the Police Academy.
