Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) – Mechanical Engineering Location: UC Davis Start Date: As soon as possible

Description: Our multidisciplinary research lab is seeking a 2nd-year Mechanical Engineering master’s student who has completed all required coursework and can fully dedicate their time to research. The GSR will work on a project integrating mechanical, optical, and electronic systems, with a strong focus on precision mechanics and experimental design.

Responsibilities:

· Design precision components and assemblies for 3D printing and fabrication

· Install, align, and operate mechanical stages (linear, rotary, or multi-axis) with high precision

· Integrate mechanical systems with optical/electronic components in experimental setups

· Perform system-level tests, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and document findings

· Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to achieve project milestones

Qualifications:

· Current UC Davis Mechanical Engineering master’s student in the 2nd year of study

· All graduate coursework completed (available to focus primarily on research)

· Strong CAD design skills and experience with 3D printing workflows

· Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, alignment, and stage control

· Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently
