The engineering office of the city of Madison Alabama.

Project Description

Students on this project will build a dashboard the City of Madison will use to review its ordinances and regulations. The dashboard will injest PDF files such as:

•New Draft Post-Construct Stormwater Ordinance

•The City’s ADEM MS4 Stormwater Permit (This expires on October 31 and was issued in 2020. Anticipate changes)

•Detention and Retention Design Standards (2019)

•City Code of Ordinances (access from Muni-Code and be retrained when our code is updated)

•Flood Ordinance (2024)

•Construction Specifications (These are from 2001 – very outdated).

•Zoning Ordinance (2024)

•Subdivision Regulations (2019)

The dashboard will leverage AI to compare new or proposed ordinances with existing City codes to find contradictions, flag inconsistencies and suggest where updates may be needed, be able to handle new and revised documents over time and a possible bonus is for the tool to also check City ordinances against state and federal requirements to confirm compliance.
