Senior Director of Development, College of Arts & Sciences

What We Seek:
The University of New Mexico Foundation is seeking a seasoned, high-performing professional to lead comprehensive development initiatives for the College of Arts & Sciences. This position manages all aspects of major gift fundraising for the College, including overseeing prospect strategy, cultivating and stewarding high-level donors, and driving campaigns that advance the College’s mission. The Senior Director of Development will oversee and mentor the Director of Development, providing strategic guidance and support to ensure fundraising goals are met and exceeded, while also serving as the principal fundraiser for the College of Arts & Sciences.

This role also collaborates closely with UNM Foundation senior leadership and University administrators to address professional practices, policies, and procedures, and contributes to the overall success of the Foundation by performing other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates closely with top-level University administrators, faculty, and volunteers to provide direction and leadership in establishing development goals and objectives for the unit. Develops and implements strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors as defined by UNM Foundation standards.
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and foundations, through face-to-face visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets set by the UNM Foundation and at levels defined by the Foundation. 
  • Manages one or more employees, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution. Evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Collaborates closely with other Foundation professionals and administrators in support of university-wide development goals. 
  • Participates as a member of the senior administrative council for the unit.
  • Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures, backgrounds and/or beliefs.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Foundation by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What We Require:

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution; master’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Seven years of related development experience. 
  • Three years of experience in management, to include direct supervisory experience. 

 

Compensation Salary Range:

$112,000 - $128,000

 

Note: Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, Hybrid Option Available
  • Weekend availability
  • Office Hours are 8am to 5pm.
