PAY RANGE: $19.00 - $23.00 / Hour
Internship Position for Summer 2026.
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Other hours as required) Hybrid flexible schedule available.

Intern Description:
We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated intern to join our Regulatory Accounting team within the Regulatory Affairs department. In this position, you will help us empower a better future for our customers and our region. Evergy aims to be the best energy company. As an Intern in our department, you will be asked to learn and contribute to supporting the ever-changing regulatory and accounting needs of the company and participate/lead projects delivering real results, contributing to our organization’s success. Projects will be analytical and technical, often involving new applications and processes. You will collaborate with Regulatory leaders and subject matter experts across the organization to achieve results.
Job tasks include but not limited to:
- Provide support to Regulatory Accounting and Regulatory Affairs personnel in support of company initiatives and corporate strategy by contributing to special projects, analyses and reports as required.
- Contribute to the successful completion of multifaceted accounting and regulatory projects within the Company’s regulatory framework and within Company time constraints.
- Support the development/ implementation/ maintenance/ execution of regulatory systems and provide technical and analytical support geared toward completing accounting and regulatory objectives.
- Bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions designed to streamline and/or enhance processes and procedures geared toward greater efficiency and effectiveness of the Regulatory department.
- Perform all other tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Candidates must be a third- or fourth-year student actively pursuing a degree in a business-related field. Accounting or Finance preferred.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
- Must possess a high degree of work initiative. Must be dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented and have excellent organizational and proofreading skills.
- Must possess the ability to work and communicate effectively with other company personnel.
- Capable of researching issues using multiple sources of data and tools available, analyze and synthesize the information to draw conclusions from to aid in decision-making process.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and demonstrate the ability to learn other software tools as needed.
- Able to handle multiple priorities and perform efficiently and effectively in high stress environment.
Working Conditions:
Normal office working conditions. Hybrid work schedule, in office Tuesday-Thursday and work from home on Monday and Friday, subject to change depending on events, meetings or activities. Will remain flexible if adjustments are needed to daily schedule. Limited travel between Evergy’s corporate headquarters located in Kansas City, MO and Topeka, KS.
