Behavior Technician / RBT / ABA Therapist : Psychology, Autism, Developmental & Behavioral Services

 

Beacon Pediatric Behavioral Health is a locally and privately owned multidisciplinary behavioral health practice in Jacksonville, Florida, providing psychological and mental health services to children and adolescents, as well as applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and developmental disabilities.

 

We offer a range of ‘full circle’ services to our clients, from diagnostic evaluations for Autism, ADHD, learning disorders, etc., to individual mental health services and family therapy, special education advocacy, and ABA treatment! Additionally, many of our clients receive ‘in house’ pediatric speech and language services, occupational therapy (OT), and/or physical therapy (PT) at our partner agency next door! We are the only ABA agency in the Jacksonville area that is owned and operated by providers that carry multiple concurrent licenses and/or certifications in clinical psychology, behavior analysis, and school psychology!

A current RBT certification is not required at the time of interview; however,  it is highly preferred.  Applicant MUST obtain RBT certification within approximately 1 month from time of interviewThose applicants without a current RBT certification are encouraged to visit www.bacb.com/rbt and www.autismpartnershipfoundation.org/free-rbt-training prior to scheduling an interview, to learn more about the RBT certification process.

 

What are the roles and responsibilities?

  • Provide 1-on-1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy services directly to children and adolescents between the ages of 18 months and 18 years, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or other developmental delays or psychiatric diagnoses
  • Work among colleagues and supervisors and collaborate with treatment team members, as well as other professionals and disciplines including psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists.
  • Implement ABA treatment plans and individualized instructional programs (e.g., discrete trial training, natural environment training, pivotal response training, verbal behavior, self-care skills, social and play skills, language development, etc.) and behavior-reduction plans (e.g., token economy systems, differential reinforcement, etc.) developed by the supervising Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Collect and record session data and complete daily session documentation
  • Communicate with client parents
  • Attend supervision and training meetings

 

What are the necessary qualifications?

  • Must have at least a high school degree; preference is given to applicants currently enrolled in undergraduate/graduate coursework related to the behavioral health field, special education, or ABA
  • Must be certified as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), or able to sit for the exam within 1-2 months from time of interview. Please visit the links previously provided above for more information on the RBT certification process.
  • Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR and AED for healthcare providers, or capable of completing an 'in person' training to obtain certification within 1-2 months from time of interview.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year Criminal History Background Check (CHBC)
  • Preference given to applicants with at least 6 months of experience working with children and/or adolescents with special needs in a care-taking, mentoring, therapeutic, or teaching capacity (as an RBT or otherwise)
  • Applicants should have strong critical thinking skills and interpersonal abilities, exhibit the ability to manage time effectively, maintain a desire for personal and professional growth, display a caring demeanor for children, and be passionate about the field of behavioral health and/or education.

 

What are the hours and location?

  • This is a part- to full-time employee position
  • Work hours are flexible; however services are typically conducted between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday – Thursday, and 8:00 am and 3:00 pm Friday.
  • Team meetings and staff training are conducted the first Friday of every month from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm; attendance at meetings is mandatory.
  • The job is performed primarily within the clinic setting at the Mandarin office location (12025 San Jose Blvd., Suite 2, Jacksonville, FL 32223), with opportunities to provide services in the home, school, and/or community setting at times

 

What type of pay/benefits are included?

  • Pay is hourly, based on billable services performed
  • Pay rate is $18.00 - $23.00 per billable hour; highest pay level is available to established and experienced RBTs participating in the BCBA mentorship program and enrolled in a Masters program towards BCBA certification.
  • Pay level is determined by amount and level of experience, education, and proficiency with professional and clinical skills
  • Opportunities are available for pay raises based on performance and competency; pay is competitive
  • Supervision and in-depth training is provided for those interested in pursuing Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA or BCaBA) at no cost to you
  • Schedule flexibility – we are happy to work with your needs!  Many of our therapists are currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies, and we understand that availability may be fluid over time,
