Junior-level Structural Engineers

Cimarron is seeking junior-level Structural Engineers to support the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the US Air Force’s Sentinel program (GBSD) in Ogden, UT.  Cimarron provides engineering and technical support to Bechtel for the design, construction, and integration of the Sentinel launch infrastructure at locations to include Vandenberg AFB, CA, F.E. Warren AFB, WY, Malmstrom AFB, MT, and Minot AFB, ND.  Sentinel is a vital nuclear modernization program that will recapitalize the nation's aging ground based leg of the nuclear triad -- the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). This is an on-site position that offers a 9X80 work schedule (i.e., every other Friday off), paid overtime, and a great work/life balance.  For candidates not local to the Ogden area, a relocation allowance can be provided.

Key Duties:

  • Design structures using structural analysis principles, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering.
  • Develop structural engineering deliverables such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
  • Prepare specifications, procurement documents, subcontract requisitions, and perform technical bid evaluations with award recommendations.
  • Provide direct support to other engineering disciplines on structural-related matters and review structural drawings and design details.
  • Assist in preparing conceptual studies, designs, reports, proposals, and quantity take-offs.
  • Coordinate work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, and participate in constructability reviews.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire.  If you are unsure whether your ID is Real ID-compliant, please check for the star symbol in the upper portion of your driver's license or state ID.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • Registered Engineer in Training (E.I.T. or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and other common computer applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge and application of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, IBC, and ASCE 7.
  • Broad understanding of structural engineering design principles.
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 or more years of related experience, or Bachelor's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering and 2 or more years of related experience.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education: 

  • Active security clearance.
  • Experience executing engineering and design work with Tekla software.
  • Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and the Whole Building Design Guide.
  • Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI MasterFormat specifications or using SpecsIntact.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (Civil or Structural) in the United States.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited course of study.
