Veteran Support & Community Engagement Intern

Internship Title: Veteran Nonprofit – Community Engagement & Communications Intern

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Community Engagement & Communications Intern to support our outreach and social impact efforts. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in nonprofit leadership, communications, or social impact work. Interns will gain hands-on experience in social media strategy, event promotion, and community engagement while working directly with staff, volunteers, and veterans.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing and executing social media content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).

Help design flyers, graphics, and digital materials to promote events and campaigns.

Support event planning, coordination, and on-site logistics for community and veteran-focused programs.

Engage with community partners, volunteers, and donors through outreach and communication efforts.

Conduct research to identify outreach opportunities and potential collaborations.

Provide administrative and operational support as needed for nonprofit programs.

Qualifications

Current student or recent graduate in communications, nonprofit management, marketing, public relations, or related field.

Passion for serving veterans and supporting community initiatives.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Comfortable with social media management tools and basic design platforms (e.g., Canva).

Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks independently.

Internship Details

Location: Hybrid (remote and in Holland, MI) 

Schedule: 5-10 hours a week (flexible schedule)

Compensation: $500 per semester, plus free membership to our yoga and fitness studio The Forge Yoga (www.theforgeyogami.com)
