Student Technician - the Hub - UUWS; FWS
Seeking initiative-taking and creative students to work in the Hub, the brand new space for innovation, making, and entrepreneurship located in the Ethos Forum. Hub Techs will be trained on equipment in the Hub, including 3D printers, a laser cutter, a wide format printer, vinyl cutting machines, sewing/embroidery machines, a CNC plasma cutter, and electronics equipment. They will be expected to:
Monitor Hub usage during opening hours
Help students/faculty/staff with the use of Hub Equipment
Help with the teaching of workshops on the use of equipment
Complete promotional projects, as well as projects that have been requested from the Hub, such as 3D printed signage, vinyl prints, posters, etc.
Work an average of 6-10h/week as assigned to cover Hub opening hours.
HUB Hours: Weekdays 2:00pm-9:00pm; Saturdays - 12:00pm - 6:00pm
Students should either already have one or more skills or are interested in learning the skills necessary to operate 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC plasma cutters, sewing/embroidery machines, Cricut/Vinyl Cutting, large format printing, & electronics equipment (soldering, etc.). Preference will be given to Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors with interests in:
Graphic Design
Laser Cutting
Metal/Shop Equipment
