Occupational Therapist Leave Replacement

The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking a qualified and compassionate Occupational Therapist for a leave replacement position. The successful candidate will work with students from various grade levels to provide occupational therapy services as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This is a leave-replacement position responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing therapeutic interventions to help students develop the skills necessary for academic and functional success within the school environment.

Tentative Assignment: Ralph R. Smith Elementary School

Commencement: September 2, 2025-October 24, 2025

Responsibilities:

Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and screenings for students referred for services.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on student needs and IEP goals.

Provide direct and indirect therapy services to students in individual, small group, and classroom settings.

Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school personnel to integrate therapy goals into the student's daily routine and curriculum.

Complete all required documentation, including progress notes, evaluation reports, and IEP reports, in a timely and accurate manner.

Participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings to report on student progress and assist in the development of IEPs.

Recommend and train staff on the use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology.

Maintain a safe and organized therapy environment.

Stay current with best practices in occupational therapy and special education.

Qualifications:

Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

NYS license as a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR).

Experience working with school-aged children preferred.

Knowledge of and experience with a variety of occupational therapy assessments and interventions.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
