The Hub Resource Center is transforming lives through dignified, comprehensive support for our unhoused neighbors. As a volunteer at our center, you'll be part of a dedicated team providing essential services and creating pathways for emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness for vulnerable members of our community. Whether you're helping with our shower program, assisting in laundry services, serving meals, or supporting enrichment classes like art therapy, ESL, Job training, your time will directly impact those working to change the trajectory of their lives. Through your service, you'll gain invaluable insights into non-profit operations, social services, and community development while building meaningful relationships with both staff and guests. No prior experience is necessary - just bring your compassion, reliability, and willingness to learn as we work together to create positive change in our community.
Role and Responsibilities:
As a Student at The Hub Resource Center, you'll be the backbone of our daily operations, ensuring our unhoused neighbors receive dignified care and support through our comprehensive services. Your day will be dynamic and purposeful, moving between our various stations including showers, laundry, food service, and resource center, where you'll both lead and support our dedicated volunteer team. You'll play a crucial role in creating a safe, structured environment while maintaining the flexibility to step in wherever needed, whether that's gathering supplies, handling special requests, or managing station operations. Beyond the practical aspects of site management, you'll have the unique opportunity to build meaningful relationships with our patrons, learning their stories and helping connect them with resources that can transform their lives. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can handle multiple tasks while maintaining excellent guest service and clear communication. Your creative problem-solving skills and ability to work independently will be essential as you help develop innovative strategies to meet the evolving needs of our community members. The
physical demands of this position include regular outdoor work in various weather conditions, the ability to stand for extended periods, carry up to 35 pounds, and navigate stairs throughout the day. Most importantly, you'll need to bring your compassionate heart and resourceful mind to equip and encourage both our team and the individuals we serve, making a lasting impact in their journey toward stability and wellness.

The St. Joseph Worker Program is deeply committed to the volunteers providing mentoring and training for personal and professional development centered around four core values: leadership as a woman, social justice, spirituality and community/simple living. Besides work experience our volunteers have the opportunity to develop and grow in spirituality in the spirit of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange. The program begins with a one to two week orientation to the program and placement site. Mentoring, educational and certification opportunities, monthly program day enrichment, and retreats help volunteers discover their strengths and passions and develop the skills and confidence to make their mark on the world.
