Business Solutions Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Business Solutions Specialist (BSS) supports the Sales Division with a variety of administrative and sales specific functions, which include directly involved with customer growth and outside sales, regular in-person customer retention visits, and facilitating pre- and post-sales support and training on assigned products and services.   
The BSS  assists the sales team with research and development into new products and services, plus assists with marketing Range’s products and services, and assists  with public relations efforts.  BSS work functions require travel across all of Range’s serving territory.  This position is occasionally assigned to professionally participate in community and company public events.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS: 

Sales:  

Communicate with current and potential customers to garner interest in presales and create lead generation.  

Follow up on communications and potential customers’ interests by presenting a detailed quote. 

Perform site surveys to gather data and insight into product and services interests as needed.  

Opportunity and needs evaluations:

Evaluate the needs of customers through discussion and customer education on products.   

Directly contribute to customer growth with a strong emphasis on outside sales efforts across all lines of business offerings. 

Customer Relations Contacts:  

Follow-up with customers, following delivery of Range training on sold products. Field additional inquiries and provide customer support and guidance as needed. 

Deliver pre- and post-sales support and training on Range products and services, which include voice & data products and services, phone systems, Wi-Fi systems and MSP related products. 

Business Development and Customer Retention:  

Network with potential and existing customers in Range service territory. 

Be an active member of each community. Regularly attend economic development activities, community gatherings, and business-related functions.  

Schedule and deliver in person visits to business customers on a regular basis across all Range markets. 

Assist department colleagues and peers with selling of company products and services. 

This role can be assigned to assist with public relations functions including regulatory and legislative events. 

Build business cases for fiber expansions (in certain areas). 

Product Development:  

Assist department colleagues and peers with research and development of new products and services. 

Perform project management functions when assigned. 

This role has expected travel requirements throughout all of Range’s service territory. 

Operate common office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers. This role also operates technical industry specific equipment. 

Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, take orders, and address complaints. 

Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other activities. 

Type, format, proofread, and edit correspondence and other documents, from notes using laptop, desktop, and/or tablet device.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION): 

(A combination of demonstrable years’ experience and applicable alternative training(s) may be considered in lieu of the following qualifications). 

Successful completion of a High School Diploma curriculum or GED program.
3-years’ work experience in a similar role and or function, preferably within the communications industry. 

A valid, state issued, and insurable drivers’ license. 

 

COMPETENCIES OR KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’S): 

Marketing and Sales Related Knowledge:

Firm working knowledge of IT and broadband concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations across a mid-sized, multiple location work setting. 

Customer and Personal Relations:

Working knowledge of principles / processes for providing customer and personal relations. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. 

Analytical Skills:

At an advanced level, be capable and skilled in observing and assessing a situation and determine how to respond in a prompt and professional manner. Such as assisting with minor conflicts or problems and supporting those involved in a professional manner working towards a resolution.  

Project Management Skills:

At an intermediate level, organize the planning process.  Develop detailed schedules including tasks, accountabilities and deadlines. Anticipate problems.  Communicate changes and progress. 

Office / Administrative Support: 

At an intermediate-to-advanced level, skilled and knowledgeable with reviewing drafts, making edits, and proofreading internal and external correspondence.  Skilled in performing the end-to-end development process to meet deadlines and align with the assigned budgets.  Files department data and ensures files are organized.  Perform data entry accurately.  Schedule meetings / appointments for multiple contacts and maintain calendar(s). 

Computer / Technical Skills: 

At an intermediate level, use word processing and data entry tools and develop spreadsheets and presentations efficiently.  Efficient understanding of various Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms, Conducts basic systems analyze and troubleshoots issues.  Technical knowledge of IT/Broadband is recommended.   

Administrative / General Office Equipment Operation: 

At an advanced level, efficiently use common office equipment (computer, scanner, fax machine, copier, phone).  Identify operational problems with common equipment and determine resolution.  Repair and upgrade office and/or basic equipment. 

English Language:

This role requires proficient working knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. 

Oral Comprehension & Expression:

The ability to listen and understand information / ideas presented through spoken words / sentences, paired with the ability to communicate information / ideas in speaking so others will understand. 

Written Comprehension & Expression:

The ability to read, to understand information and ideas presented through written words and sentences, paired with the ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
